The Sylvia Brown Scholarship
Sylvia Brown was the beloved Postmaster of Millry, Alabama. "Miss Sylvia" as she was known, was the matriarch of the Alabama Branch of NAPUS. She was the epitome of a Southern lady, who believed that class and charm were essential personality traits. She brought these characteristics to the clearly defined Robert's Rules and USPS protocol of NAPUS meetings. "Miss Sylvia" loved to travel and made friends across the nation, who still share fond memories of her. Leadership was not just something that "Miss Sylvia" did from her many positions of power in the NAPUS organization, it was a way of life in all that she touched from home, community, Postmaster and NAPUS officer. This Memorial Scholarship celebrates the legacy of a strong Southern lady that mentored by setting high expectations and developed future leaders through dignity and respect.
